—NITDA boss credits media for agency’s achievements under his leadership
YBTC NEWS—The Director-general of the National Information Technology and Development Agency, NITDA, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has lauded Nigeria’s media efforts in ensuring growth and development of the IT sector.
He said, ” media has been doing excellently well in conveying the giant stride of NITDA…we are thankful to the media. Without your support, without your commitment, without your sincerity in promoting and helping your country, this cannot be achieved”.
Dr Pantami made this declaration on Thursday, 1st of November,2018 during the Press conference organized by the agency in Abuja.
The NITDA Press conference which is the first ever conference organized by the agency under the stewardship of Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, sought to highlight notable achievements of the regulatory body in restructuring and regulating the Nigerian Information technology sector as well as its efforts in creating and promoting young indigenous innovators in the sector, while also bringing to fore the agency’s agenda as regards the eNigeria 2018 conference scheduled to hold on Monday, 5th of November, 2018.
The annual event has this year’s theme as ” Promoting digital economy in an era of disruptive technologies through effective regulations” with three focal point, namely-digital economy; disruptive technologies and effective regulations to be discussed by panelists which comprises of 55 ICT Professionals and lawyers. Also exhibition will be held to showcase indigenous startup innovators at the conference.
The event will be closed on the 7th of November,2018 with an Awards night to honour and identify private and public institutions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies including States and individuals that have excelled in ICT development or utilizing ICT,engage in government digital services or E- government.
NITDA, in its fight against cyber crimes and standardization of cyber security in Nigeria, have strived to uphold it’s mandate in promoting local content, building topnotch IT capacity and creating jobs to enable the development of a sustainable knowledge based economy. This in turn has helped place Nigeria at the forefront with local and international recognitions for exemplary excellence in IT regulation in Africa with 79 awards to its credits in the past two years.
